Netmore Group has added Kinéis satellite connectivity to its LPWAN network to support hybrid terrestrial and orbital IoT operations. The integration provides single-platform management for customers across the utilities, water, infrastructure, and smart city sectors.
Kinéis operates a sovereign European constellation of 25 satellites dedicated to IoT and Automatic Identification Systems (AIS). Netmore delivers the combined connectivity directly through its ThingPark platform, extending device communication beyond the physical reach of ground-based LoRaWAN networks without requiring separate management systems.

Automated network failover and deployed hardware
The hybrid network automates switching between terrestrial LoRaWAN and satellite links. Orbital connectivity steps in whenever terrestrial reception is lost, maintaining data continuity without manual intervention from system operators.
This architecture supports autonomous monitoring of remote sites, transition from reactive maintenance to predictive fault detection, and early detection of risks such as water leaks and fire outbreaks. Continuous asset tracking also allows operators to optimise transit routes across unserved regions.
The rollout avoids lengthy product engineering cycles by using commercially available hybrid hardware. Kinéis currently provides validated off-the-shelf devices across several operational sectors, allowing enterprise customers to deploy hybrid configurations immediately.
For asset tracking, Track Value and Beepings Beepro hardware maintain uninterrupted geolocation coordinates when assets move beyond ground coverage. Water and infrastructure operators deploy Sentiv hardware to remotely monitor meters, tanks, and facilities, while Dryad Sylvanet devices provide environmental monitoring and wildfire detection across remote zones lacking terrestrial coverage.
Market projection and LoRa Alliance standards
Demand for service continuity across remote regions continues to drive commercial expansion in the hybrid communications market. The global hybrid terrestrial-satellite cellular IoT connectivity sector is estimated at $8.6 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach $89.4 billion, according to findings from the Hybrid Terrestrial-Satellite Cellular IoT Connectivity Market Research Report 2034 (2026).
Both Kinéis and Netmore are active members of the LoRa Alliance, aligning this deployment with the organisation’s technical roadmap. Current implementations build upon existing standards for low Earth orbit (LEO) and geostationary orbit (GEO) satellite communication.
The companies are aligning their platforms with the planned Satellite Discovery Enhancements specification. This upcoming extension will standardise how commercial off-the-shelf LoRaWAN devices discover and connect directly to satellite constellations, ahead of a European space summit scheduled to review regional commercial space ambitions.
