UNO Home Loans partners with Fiskil to make home loan monitoring continuous

Most Australians know what their house is worth. Far fewer know whether their home loan is any good.

That asymmetry is striking when you consider the size of the decision.

A mortgage is likely to be one of the largest financial commitments a household will ever make, yet for many borrowers, the quality of that loan is assessed only occasionally: when rates rise, when a fixed term expires, or when something finally prompts them to consider refinancing.

UNO Home Loans thinks that model is backwards.

The mortgage platform has partnered with Fiskil to embed Open Banking into LoanScore, giving customers a way to understand how their home loan compares with the market — and keep monitoring it as their loan and the market change.

Fiskil provides the banking connectivity underneath the experience, enabling UNO to securely access the financial data it needs to move LoanScore beyond a one-off comparison.

For UNO CEO Vincent Turner, that gets closer to the question borrowers were asking all along.

“People were focused on saying refi, refi, refi, and the question the customer was asking was, ‘I don’t even know if I have a good loan or not,’” said Turner.

That distinction matters. Refinancing is an action and knowing whether you need to refinance is an information problem.

UNO is betting that solving the second problem properly makes the first one much easier.

From comparison to continuous monitoring

LoanScore was originally built to give borrowers a simple view of how their existing home loan stacked up against the market.

The idea worked. But the product still had a structural limitation: the quality of the answer depended on the information a customer entered at that moment.

Open Banking changes that.

With Fiskil powering the data connection, UNO can combine its home-loan pricing and product intelligence with permissioned banking data, allowing LoanScore to become less of a snapshot and more of an ongoing signal.

“The relaunch of LoanScore was about getting it live not just as a one-off tool, but as a tool that deeply integrated with the loans that you had… and could actually provide that ongoing monitoring that honestly was only really possible using Open Banking.”

Customers can still begin with a lightweight experience, entering a small amount of information to generate an initial score.

But when they connect their accounts, the quality of the information improves.

“Where it gets really interesting is not the self-reported data, it’s when you add Open Banking.”

For Turner, that is where the proposition changes.

“That’s the real win because it’s not just a LoanScore now, but it also means we continuously monitor it.”

The result is a different way of thinking about mortgage comparison.

Instead of asking a borrower to periodically return to the market and work out whether something better exists, the product can stay closer to the underlying financial position and help surface that question over time.

Built to move quickly, designed to scale

UNO needed an Open Banking partner that could match the pace and ambition of the product.

With Fiskil, UNO’s engineering team was able to begin building while its CDR requirements progressed in parallel, reaching a working product in its own environment in under two weeks.

That speed gave UNO more room to focus on the experience itself: how customers move through LoanScore, how connected data improves the product, and how the service can evolve over time.

“The sooner you can get the thing that actually does what you think will solve the client’s problem into the hands of the client to see that, the better.”

Fiskil provides the infrastructure underneath that approach: lightweight enough to move quickly, robust enough to support ongoing product development, and built with scale in mind.

That matters because UNO is building LoanScore for national relevance, with the goal of every Australian with a loan to have a LoanScore.

For UNO, the value of Fiskil is not just getting Open Banking live. It is having an infrastructure partner that can support where the product is going next.
