T-Mobile has announced the launch of Edge Control and T-Platform to its Advanced Network Solutions (ANS) portfolio. The platforms are intended for operations where reliability, speed, and security are of the highest priority. The new offerings have already garnered interest from industry leaders, including the Formula 1 Heineken Las Vegas Grand Prix, the PGA of America, and the US military.

“Networks should accelerate ambition, not hold it back,” explained Mo Katibeh, Chief Marketing Officer at T-Mobile Business Group. “With Edge Control and T-Platform, we’re giving businesses tools to work faster, safer and smarter – while making network management as simple as it should be.”

Edge Control has been purposely-built to harness the United State’s only 5G Advanced network with Local Breakout, designed to cut costs, latency, and security risks. Controlled via the T-Platform, it provides enterprises with a complete oversight of their network traffic, enabling real-time decision-making for smoother, more secure operations.

AI is already transforming industries like healthcare with 71% of hospitals reportedly using predictive AI in their Electronic Health Record systems in 2024, a 5% increase from 2023. That industry’s adoption of AI highlights the need for connectivity made for high-performance, data-driven environments where personally-identifiable information needs to be exchanged..

As technologies like AI increase in adoption, traditional connectivity solutions like Wi-Fi, can struggle to withstand future demands, resulting in possible reliability issues, and potential regulatory and data jurisdiction concerns.

Edge Control

Edge Control reportedly gives organisations the advantages of private networks without having to set up and manage separate networks at each site in a wider organisational campus. It manages how data is moved between different devices, distributed computing, and servers. T-Mobile claims simplified scalability, ultra-low latency, and the preservation of data sovereignty.

Users can analyse data directly on their local systems, whether hosted on private cloud platforms or on-premises servers. Organisations have the flexibility to run Edge Control so that it matches their goals and regulatory requirements, the company claims.

Network traffic is routed with fewer hops, equating to more efficient delivery and fewer VPN tunnel issues. Rather than detouring traffic through several waypoints, Edge Control provides a local “on/off ramp,” designed to give data more direct routes.

T-Platform

T-Platform, a 5G portfolio platform, delivers a unified interface where organisations can access and manage all T-Mobile for Business services, including Edge Control. Customers can combine 5G internet, IoT, and network insights, so all services, devices, and locations are fully visible and controlled.

The presence of up-to-date data on performance and network use, businesses can make informed decisions and users can manage devices regardless of where they are, via centralised control.

T-Platform is currently available in two service tiers – Essentials and Advanced. Essentials is suited to businesses with basic network management needs, and the tier offers account-level reporting and dashboards. The Advanced tier is tailored more towards larger businesses managing IoT networks. It provides enhanced features for detailed oversight.

Edge Control and T-Platform are designed for network management and the ability to make data-driven decisions, with sectors like healthcare early adopters.
