Following the recently announced executive changes at Spenda – a B2B payments and software platform – the company now enters a new phase of leadership with the appointment of Corrie Hassan as Interim Chief Executive Officer.
Previously the company’s Chief Operating Officer, Corrie brings a strong background in finance, credit, and operational leadership. Known for her clear, practical approach, Corrie steps into the role at a time when the company’s sole focus is on execution and delivery of the existing product suite.
Here, Corrie Hassan discusses her priorities as CEO, the value of her operational background, and what sharper execution means for Spenda.
Q: What’s your immediate focus stepping into the CEO role?
Execution and delivery. We have strong products and a very capable team. My focus is making sure the business delivers on its market leading product suite. That means consistent and scalable delivery of the product suite to our customers.
Q: How does your experience shape the way you lead?
Most of my career has been in operations, lending, credit and underwriting. In those roles, risk and cost management is key to sustainability and profitability. Keeping the business sharply focused on costs, revenue and margins is key to delivering value to our shareholders and ensures the team is aligned with our stakeholder goals.
Q: What does good operational management look like to you?
Clarity and accountability. Everyone should know what they’re working toward, how success is measured, and what’s expected of them. Clear and consistent communication across the business is critical to drive success and align people and priorities to achieve our goals.
Q: What changes are you making to improve execution?
We’re simplifying the business model and tightening our belt where it’s needed to align products and delivery at scale. We have refined our product suite and made sure the teams have the tools and support to deliver. This will ensure we remain focused and execute effectively. Simplicity drives clarity, and clarity drives execution.
Q: How do you view Spenda’s position in the market?
We have proven our solutions application to solve real problems for businesses, and our mission – to help companies trade and get paid more efficiently – remains highly relevant. There is huge opportunity in front of us. Now our team primary purpose is execution to make sure we capitalise.
Q: What’s your message to stakeholders watching this transition?
We’re focused on execution and delivery. Operational discipline is our priority, and we will create results.
