How to watch Italy vs Australia: FREE live streams for 2025 rugby game

How to watch Italy vs Australia: FREE live streams for 2025 rugby game

The Wallabies were in a good place before their shock 25-7 hammering by England last week, so there’s no telling what to expect from their clash with Italy in Udine. The Azzurri registered their first ever victory over Australia when the teams last met, three years ago, but this, their 2025 Autumn Internationals opener, is Italy’s first outing in four months.

August and September saw Joe Schmidt’s men dominate the Lions 3rd Test to prevent a sweep and start the 2025 Rugby Championship with two victories from three. However, they’ve since lost four of five, the sole victory coming against beleaguered Japan – and they were made to work hard for it. Were the positive results a false dawn, or are they just running on fumes?

Schmidt has opted to rest star winger Max Jorgensen after his ineffective outing last weekend, with Corey Toole taking his place on the wing. Carter Gordon returns to the Wallabies fold for the first time since the 2023 World Cup, at fly-half, after calling time on his stint in the NRL, while Rob Valetini takes his place on the bench alongside Pete Samu, with Tom Hooper coming into the starting XV.

With South Africa up next, the fixture schedulers haven’t exactly been kind to Italy, so it’s little surprise to see Gonzalo Quesada go heavy on experience at Stadio Friuli. Even with Sebastian Negri and captain Michele Lamaro out injured, all but three of his starting XV have at least 20 caps apiece. Amongst them are key men Ange Capuozzo, Paolo Garbisi and skipper for the day Juan Ignacio Brex, while Tommaso Allan is being held in reserve.

Louis Lynagh, the son of Wallabies great Michael Lynagh, starts for Italy in what will be his first appearance against Australia. His brother Tom Lynagh, unfortunately, isn’t in the setup after a recent hamstring injury.
