Forte Medical Peezy Midstream device wins award and GP backing

Chris Whitehouse, a political consultant and expert on medical technology policy and regulation at Whitehouse Communications, and advisor to MedTech companies celebrates award for innovative UTI diagnostic device, Peezy Midstream, set to revolutionise patient care for women and slash NHS lab spend.

Over 100 general practitioners (GPs) recently gathered for an evening focused on innovation in Primary Care. Medic Footprints, founded by Dr Abeyna Jones, works to help doctors expand their careers and introduce them to innovation that will help engender and build best practice.

Innovations presented included Dana Klopot‘s Parent to Parent’s Daily Routine Tracker for Neurodivergent Kids and Zonder a system that relieves the burden of management of long-term conditions on GP practices

The winner, voted by the audience of 100 GPs and with unanimous backing from the five GP Judges, was Forte Medical’s Peezy Midstream, providing accurate diagnosis for UTI and prenatal screening and shown to reduce inappropriate prescriptions of antibiotics.

Designed by Dr Vincent Forte, an NHS GP for over 20 years, Forensic Physician and co-author of best-selling Primary Care Reference Book Symptom Sorter, Peezy Midstream is available to Primary Care Providers, showing excellent clinical evidence around reduced false-positives and reduced specimen contamination evidenced by a Public Health Wales GP study, showing a 66% saving on lab spend.

Judge Dr Ian Morrant said of Peezy Midstream: “This is something I can pick up and use in my surgery tomorrow and make things better for patients and my practice. I’m always embarrassed to give a woman the small containers we use and we really do need to focus on the problem of prescribing so many antimicrobials.”

Dr Abeyna Jones, Medic Footprints Founder said: “I can’t believe this isn’t gold standard for MSU (mid-stream urinary testing) yet.”

Dr Rajvir Singh commented: “I’m excited to see the impact Peezy Midstream will have for women’s health, primary care and beyond.”

Dr Craig Wylie added: “As a practising GP I can 100% see the immediate applicability of your product in primary care and care home settings. I was sitting with a care home owner and we were both nodding our heads like Churchill dogs in the back seat of cars!”
