We are currently recruiting for a Field Trials Manager to join our trials team and help provide evidence-based solutions to sugar beet farming problems. BBRO – the go-to source of advice for sugar beet growers

Base:                       Bexwell, Downham Market

Salary:                    circa £30,000 PA (depending on experience)

Working Hours:   35 hours per week basic, plus additional seasonal hours when required

Position:                Full-Time, Permanent

The work of a Field Trials Manager

Reporting to BBRO’s Head of Field Operations, you will deliver agricultural trials work to the highest standard across the sugar beet growing area by conducting all aspects of practical work associated with agricultural field trials and demonstrations and assist with delivery of BBRO’s KE activity on host farms/open days.

Skills set needed

You will need experience of working in an agricultural field trials environment, possess a good level of understanding of agricultural practice and have knowledge of arable machinery and its maintenance.

 

This job requires that you hold a full driving licence. Furthermore, you will need to be able to carry out the field trials work (due to the proportion of time required for this element of the role) and preferably have field trials experience or similar (although this is not essential).

Desirable proficiencies include an agricultural college qualification, BASIS and FACTS, a telehandler qualification, PA1, PA6 and trailer towing experience.

Attitude and determination

This role is for you if you are keen and self-motivated team worker with a positive, resilient, “can-do” attitude.  You will need to be able to effectively prioritise and carry out tasks, give attention to detail, meet deadlines and follow systems whilst running and monitoring first class field trials.  You will have the ability to communicate well with your colleagues and parties external to the organisation.
