Applications are invited for a Field Technician to join the Field Experimentation Team at the John Innes Centre Field Station based in Bawburgh, Norwich, UK.
The role
The post holder will be actively involved in all aspects of the Field Experimentation Team’s operations including the application of plant protection products using tractor mounted equipment, field cultivations, the sowing of experiments by machine and hand, harvesting using specialist plot combines and threshing and processing of plants and seeds.
The ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will have knowledge and enthusiasm for good plant husbandry and have excellent communication skills. Being willing and flexible to work outside of normal working hours when required is essential along with the ability to work independently, using initiative and applying problem solving skills. Due to the key responsibilities of the role and rural location of the Field Experimentation base, it is essential that candidates possess a valid driver’s licence (reasonable adjustments will be considered in the case of applicants with a disability). Possession of PA1 & 2 certificates would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be provided.
