Leading provider for specialty Copolyester solutions Selenis has announced the launch of Selcare CE 500, a low glycol modified polymer resin engineered specifically for film extrusion in healthcare packaging, through its dedicated healthcare brand, Selcare.
This ‘breakthrough’ product is engineered as recycle-ready material that meets the requirements for RIC1 identification. Selcare CE 500 is introduced as part of the Selcare medical grade range, which has a strong focus on sustainability according to the company.
Eduardo Santos, Global Head of Strategy for Selcare said: “Our innovative batch production technology has enabled Selcare to develop a low glycol modified polyester that delivers exceptional performance, designed to be recycled in the RIC 1 stream.
“This tailor-made glycol modification provides improved processability, superior sealing, and enhanced impact resistance compared to existing modified APETs. By offering this at a price point between standard APET and PETG healthcare grades, Selcare CE 500 is a truly cost-competitive and sustainable solution that facilitates closing loops in healthcare packaging.”
The new resin comes with regulatory declarations, including ISO 10993, USP Class VI, USP <661.1>, and ICH Q3D. The product is also free of intentionally added BPA says the company.
