Due to an internal promotion, we now have a vacancy for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join the team. Activities include a ryegrass breeding programme, and the largest forage grass and amenity grass trialling programme in the UK. We also play an important role in the marketing of products to the UK grass seed trade.

 

As a Field Trials Technician, you will be involved in a range of duties associated with trialling, breeding, and harvesting of our grass varieties. Including:

 

  • Harvesting forage grass plots using specialist equipment including the Haldrup Harvester.
  • Collecting data and monitoring quality.
  • Support the Trials Officer with the maintenance of the trials ground and plots.
  • Support the Trials Officer with the maintenance and servicing of all agricultural machinery used on site.
  • Support the Trials Officer with seed preparation and sowing of the forage and amenity trials plots.
  • Maintain the site to the standard required of a centre of excellence.
  • Welcome visitors and provide a high level of customer service.

 

Our ideal candidate will be a motivated individual, with previous experience of working with farm machinery and equipment and capable of working within a small team with excellent attention to detail. Some field trials experience would be an advantage as well as an understanding of amenity grass practices, seed crop trialling and management but full training can be given. Previous experience of using Microsoft Office is essential and a Full Driving Licence will be required due to the role including travel between sites.

 

Contract: Full-Time Permanent

Hours: Monday – Friday 8.00 am – 4.30 pm
