We are recruiting a Junior Scientist on a 12 month fixed term contract based at our office in Kings Lynn, with availability to travel to countries in Southern Africa.
The role holder will have as a minimum a BSc Degree or equivalent in Biology, chemistry, or Agriculture and will ideally have experience in a similar role or in working with agriculture and or plants.
They will be responsible for planning and carrying out experiments and trials to develop coatings for sugarcane to improve germination and the establishment of single eyed setts. The role holder is required to utilise their experience of working in a material/biological sciences area and perform tests on an independent basis whilst liaising with the senior scientist on a regular basis.
Key Responsibilities:
To develop Sugarcane coating technologies including the application processes for agrochemicals and other materials
To develop and evaluate coating materials
To understand the business priorities and the standard working practices with the ability to prioritise their own workload accordingly.
Transferring of processes and methods to operations and Quality Control and to provide additional support when required.
Ensuring all equipment is functioning within specifications and to assist with regular calibrations
Maintain and improve laboratory standards and quality awareness within Research and Development
Contribute to general laboratory maintenance
Present and explain data and findings to departmental peers and business group managers using statistical analysis to identify patterns and trends.
To ensure all work meets required quality standards through rigorous adherence to company policy and procedure.
To assist, where required, in projects and trials of new products Complete administrative paperwork as required for company reporting procedures.
To build effective internal and external relationships to support business priorities
Adhere to all health and safety procedures and policies to ensure zero lost time injuries
What will you need?
As a minimum the successful candidate should hold a BSc Degree or equivalent in Biology, chemistry, or agriculture. An ideal candidate would have experience in a similar role, along with excellent communication skills both verbal and written and will be willing to travel abroad (countries in Southern Africa)
