The agricultural industry stands at a critical inflection point between feeding a growing population, improving efficiency of production and improving its environmental impact. Globally farming employs over a billion people and accounts for 10% of global GDP. fieldmargin’s mission is to help the people on the front line of this, farmers, make better informed decisions by having all the information they need in the palm of their hand. We are a UK-based company but the team is hybrid-remote.

fieldmargin is a mobile-first, design-led and cloud-based farm management system, developed in response to industry-wide frustrations with the antiquated and expensive solutions on offer. It is used by farmers around the world to keep track of everything happening one their farm, from crops to livestock, and everything in between, across a wealth of different farming systems. We have built a great product which farmers enjoy using and we are now gearing up for the next stage of growth.

We’re looking for an experienced and driven sales lead to join our team and supercharge our enterprise sales. In this role you will sell our farm management software to large agricultural businesses who want to roll fieldmargin out across their farms or farmer customers. You will take on our existing pipeline and manage the process from identifying leads to closing deals. This is not a ‘cold start’.

What you will do

  • You will be responsible for prospecting, qualifying, managing, owning and driving the full sales process from the first contact through closing new sales. You will take on our existing sales pipeline and develop new opportunities build a relationship with senior leadership and other relevant stakeholders to demonstrate our value.
  • Work towards sales targets to help the business meet our revenue goals.
  • You will maintain accurate information of your deals, progress and next steps and keep the management team up to date on this.
  • Identify partnership opportunities from your communications and pass these on to the CEO and Head of Product to develop.
  • You will perform product demonstrations and build business cases for prospects and qualified leads. This will involve working closely with customer services to understand farmer needs.
  • You will be supported by the commercial and customer success team.

Skills + Experience

  • 3+ years of sales experience. Confident with contracts from £10k to £500k+.
  • Knowledge of the agricultural industry. Agtech or SaaS experience a bonus but not necessary.
  • Motivated and a self-starter who is comfortable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • You will be part of a small team in a fast growing startup and need to be able to turn your hand to different tasks as they arise.
  • You’re a team player and seek out feedback.

Interview Process

  1. Brief telephone interview.
  2. Video phone interviews with Head of Product, one of our founders and Customer Success Lead. This will include scenario-based questions to understand how you would approach situations encountered in the role.
  3. Meet some more of the team in a more social setting (in person or video call depending on location).

Salary and Benefits

  • £25,000 – 35,000 base salary depending on experience. Initially this will be a 6 month fixed term contract, with all going well this will become a permanent position.
