One among the most remarkable features available on Android OS is its multi-window option that allows users to run 2 apps at a time, simultaneously, on the screen. However, it works smoothly mainly on large-screen devices.
Thanks to XDA developers who came with yet another solution for how to enable multi-window mode on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. As per the reports from users of Reddit, the tutorial to enable multi-window mode on Android 6.0 Marshmallow worked well. This will be quite helpful for all the users who’re new into the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. All you need for enabling this mode is TWRP Recovery, PC, USB cable and ADB drivers. So if you’re a user of Nexus phone 5 or 6, which received the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, you can enable the multi-window option on your device now.
We’ve given the tutorial in connection with the aforementioned procedure for both rooted and non-rooted device. Make sure that you’re following the right tutorial for your device listed below.
In non-rooted Android device:
Step 1: You can start with the process by booting the device into Recovery Mode. In order to do this, switch off the device. Press and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons together for a few seconds. Select the Recovery Option.
Step 2: Using a USB cable, connect your device to the PC.
Step 3: Navigate to the option Mounts in the Recovery Mode. Click System Option Now.
Step 4: Open a Command Window Prompt on PC. To do this, create a new desktop folder and open it. Click on the empty space in the new folder, when you hold the Shift key, then choose Open Command Window option.
Step 5: Enter the command shown below in the command prompt.
- adb pull / system / build.prop
Step 6: After entering the above command, it’ll collect the build.prop file. With the help of Notepad++, open the files on your PC.
Step 7: Search for the “ro.build.type” line which is written in the build.prop file.
Step 8: Change the user’s name to userdebug.
Step 9: Save the changes and close the file.
Step 10: Navigate to the cmd window and enter the following command:
- adb push build.prop / system/
Step 11: Enter the following command on the dialogue box shows on screen for the adb shell open:
- adb shell
Step 13: Enter the following commands, too, below it.
- cd system
- chmod 644 build.prop
Step 14: Get out from the adb shell option.
Step 15: Reboot your device now. Go back to the Recovery Mode and choose Reboot>> System.
Step 16: Once you’re done with the booting of your device, go to Developer options below the Settings.
Step 17: Enable the Multi-Window Option and click enter.
In Rooted Android Device:
Step 1: Download the build.prop editor.
Step 2: Search for the ro.build.type file.
Step 3: Enter the userdebug command.
Step 4: Reboot your device.
Step 5: Go to Developer options if you’re done with the above step successfully.
Step 6: Select Drawing category
Step 7: Enable Multi-Window Option.
It’s completed! Now, you can now do multitasking on your Android 6.0 Marshmallow phone regardless whether it’s rooted or non-rooted.
